Noted for her “sit-up-and-take-notice” style, Laura enjoys singing in a variety of musical genres. She also gravitates toward new music and particularly likes working with active composers. Laura graduated with her bachelor’s from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire, where she studied with Dr. Ken Pereira and received her master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, studying with Dawn Harris. Her roles include Zerlina in Nathan Gunn’s directorial debut of Don Giovanni at UIUC’s Lyric Theatre and Papagena in the Manhattan Opera Studio of New York City’s production of Die Zauberflöte. Other roles include Edith and Mabel in Sinfonia da Camera’s production of The Pirates of Penzance and Frau Silberklang in Der Schauspieldirektor with Community Light Opera of Champaign, Illinois. She made her German debut with Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, singing Barbarina and covering Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. She returned to Germany in 2021-2022 under the Uihlein Career Fund Grant, where she performed in Leipzig and studied with Jeanette Favaro-Reuter. Laura currently performs in Houston and recently sang Handel’s Messiah with A&M Methodist and Lamar University as part of the St. Anthony Basilica Concert Series. She also regularly performs with the Houston Saengerbund. Laura lives in Houston with her husband, Alex, and works at Rice University as the Assistant Director for Academic Advising at the Jones Graduate School of Business. She studies voice with Dr. Ken Pereira.
